Warning signs of things going wrong

You need to be more attune to signs that things are going wrong with remote teams because you cannot see and assess body language as you would when everyone is located in the same place.

There are some key signs to look out for which will indicate that the person is struggling:

  • Reduced output
  • Not attending online meetings or not taking phone calls
  • A shortage of emails
  • A general reluctance to engage with you and their colleagues
  • A shortage of suggestions and new ideas

Make sure you follow up any of the above signs urgently to find out what is going on for that person at the moment.
